Gimme some beta

Because I’ve never complained of having burned out on beta testing and I’ve never said I wouldn’t jump on hype-wagons anymore. No sirree. Anyway, that was a long time ago and I’m pretty sure the opinion statute of limitations for blogs is about 15 minutes.

So. The Elder Scrolls Online now has a beta application page, here.

If you’ve never played any of the single-player RPG versions, a) you probably won’t care about this and b) have you been living under a rock?! I sank a jillion hours into Skyrim most recently – actually no, I wanted to sink a jillion hours into Skyrim and kept getting stymied by work, but I did play as much as I could for a while and lots of fun it was too. (Apart from the fact that PC players got their bug issues addressed and Xbox players like me just had to suck it up and STFU).

Gamers have been clamoring for a multiplayer online version of TESO for centuries (in blogging years), so here it is. Come be part of the development and help make a kickass game. Or, if it’s going to be an FFXIV-type of bust, at least you’ll know ahead of time.

I appear to have only one problem right now. Clicking the “COMPLETE BETA APPLICATION” button makes it go from blue to brown, but otherwise appears to do nothing at all. I sure hope they haven’t just received 4 5 7 versions of my beta app…

EDIT: Well, I hope you have better luck than me. None of my browsers do anything when I click the apply button. According to one wiki it goes to a confirmation page. Bah humbug.

Did not work for me in Chrome either. But worked in Firefox 17.0.1 from first time.

I’m not sure what’s going on with your application, but mine went to a lengthy application process and then a “we’ll let you know within 48 hours” notification.. Sorry! don’t know what more to suggest. But thank you for the link :-)

At least let us know how it is if you get in, Lauda! (Well, NDAs permitting.) Still no luck with my own application. :/

I can’t get it to work either Ysh. Not a good sign for the future. If you can’t handle the volume of beta sign ups, how can you handle the volume of players and servers on launch day?

Incidentally, I’ve tried it with Firefox and IE both. No dice.

Yeah, I’ve tried it on Firefox and Chrome, no dice. Clicking the button basically does nothing. We’ll see if anything official gets posted after the weekend.

I’m not that fussed anymore. I love betas, but if the application page doesn’t work I’m not going to jump through a million hoops trying to get in. I have a life and lots of work and it’s not up to me to get the process to work correctly, it’s up to them.

Hope it works out later! It certainly looks like it is popular.

    As for interest:
    a) Correct, not really caring.
    b) Not under a rock, but certainly never played any of these Elder Scrolls games. But that is true for non-MMO games in general on the PC for me – my gaming time has been on other platforms. My non-MMO PC gaming is pretty much limited to games on sale on Steam that I never complete.

Ah yes, like the copy of LA Noire I got on a Steam sale last summer that I haven’t even loaded up yet…
