Ooops. The morning after the day before.

It took a bleary-eyed, just woken up reading of Harbinger Zero’s Blogday post for me to realise  that we have the same blog-birthday. I need more coffee.

So er — yeah. Hurrah and stuff. Yesterday was insanely busy with RL stuff — some of it good, some of it mortifying (then fixed), all of it involving a lot of running around — and I just didn’t think of it. Which is typical because I spent most of last week reminding myself I shouldn’t forget my own blog-birthday.

Ooops.

I’m actually much more comfortable wishing other people a happy event-day than blowing a trumpet about my own. I can’t be arsed to do a list of my late and great posts — there aren’t many (the backward-looking eye is a critical one) but some aren’t bad. I’ve enjoyed posting here for the last couple of years, at least most days, and it’s never turned into a job, at least most days.

I’m not out for the reader numbers, though those of you who stop by and read and/or comment are very welcome — and in many cases much smarter and more interesting than me. I’m out to write what I know about the games I play because I’m passionate about games and because frothing — which is what we used to call mostly empty game-related talk back before I even played MMOs — is just so much fun.

Here’s to another few years — for your sins.

  1. Grats Ysh! Like Yeebo, I have a bit of a fuzzy understanding of when my actual blogday is, in part because I did a very soft launch (i.e. opened the blog and started posting the occasional content well before I actually started promoting the thing or updating it on any sort of regular basis). But a blogday/year is a blogday/year in any case. 🙂

    • I just go from the first post, which was on August 13, 2008. I have absolutely no idea when I actually registered for the blog, but it was probably a day or two before that.

  2. As I’ve said to others when they bring this up…. n00b! 🙂

But, this is one of the blogs I do look forward to reading. Thanks for bringing your unique perspective to MMOs. Keep up the good work, and here’s to many more years of insightful writing. 🙂

  4. Happy Blogday! If memory serves, I have the same blogday as well. Must have been a good day, that.

  5. First off – Happy Blogday to you as well. I’ve been pondering what Psychochild wrote above. And I agree – for him it would be noobish to do a post like that or this. He’s well within the gaming industry with solid credentials – people will always come and read him just for that. For example, Bill Belicheck never has to write or talk about how great it is to be the coach of the New England Patriots, and people will listen to him talk about football or anything else he wants, just because of what he does.

But for the rest of us who haven’t hit our epic levels yet – well, I think its not a bad idea to take stock every now and then. For me the fun of the blo-o-versary day is not tooting my own horn so much as it is a public benchmark to hold myself accountable. And it gives me a good excuse to send out links as a “thank you” to those who have read and supported me.
