That pile I was talking about last month? It just got bigger.
One of my favourite games EVAR and one I miss perhaps even more than I miss Asheron’s Call (which was a wonderful MMO-virgin game nevertheless). I miss it like the spousal unit misses UO or hardcore raiders miss EQ. I followed SWGEmu a number of years ago but time, life and the state of the emulator’s progress back then conspired against me and I never got to try it out.
This is about to change. Well, in 2 or 3 days when my pooey internet allows me to update.
I’m not even going to mention the NGE and the CU and if you don’t know those acronyms you’re much better off, trust me.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I’m really excited about this. My workload is pretty heavy right now but I may have to make time (i.e. lose sleep) for this one.
A propos nothing, it’s the game I was playing just before I got caught up in the Warhammer hype and started this blog. That was back in 2007-2008. Man, that was a long time ago, and despite all the changes they’d brought to the game it still had something unique going for it. Can’t wait for that update to finish…
I envy you! To walk through Coronet, Theed, or go to Endor and just walk the map…I want to know every single thing about it, and I know you’ll give the straight scoop. Squeeee…Skill trees? Mentoring? Community? Music? Can they use that?

Everything seems to be in there from the early days, including apparently the JTL stuff (which I was never very in to). I immediately made a crafter and you can only make 1 char every 24 hours (up to the max of 10 on each of the 2 servers, so 20 total), so we’ll find out what else they have.
There were about 1000 concurrent players when I logged in this evening, so I’m hopeful weekends might be fairly lively. I’ve got an e-friend or two playing – google Obzzarver’s YouTube or Twitch channels, he’s the one who got me back in and he’s been streaming. Should have the details you want.
I will, of course, try to post, provided I’m not too busy working and then playing. 😉

I would be in it in a heartbeat if I had a disc, but I was late to the party and only ever had a digital download. )-:

I don’t think you need the disks per se, just an install – it’s not like the emulator cares about the key or anything. Just as well, since I had to ‘recover’ my disks using a method that rhymes with St-Laurent… Given that I paid what, $50 or $60 per a decade ago and that I ended up buying 3 sets and the various xpacks (me, addicted?), I figure it’s not so bad.
The way it works is you get the game installed but you’re never actually going to launch it. Then you get the emulator installed and point it at the SWG install so it can get the files it needs. It patches, and that’s it – after that you’re actually playing the emulator version, not the ‘real’ SWG install. Was very easy.
If you do make it in, I remade my original char, Ekkie Patang. Look me up.

Just as soon as I remember what the screenshot key is (or what I need to bind it to). 😀
I mean — ahem — of course I’m working today. Really, really working. Very hard. Slaving, even.
(I’m going to wail and gnash my teeth when I’m trying to do 12 hours’ worth of work in 4 on Sunday evening…)
