Roses are red, blood is too…

This just arrived from Mythic today:

Roses are Red,
Violence is too,
On the Night of Murder,
I’ll be coming for you.

Speculate away. I’ve got a work deadline to meet.

OOPS EDIT — the combo on the back is 2/13 with something that looks like a pound sign underneath — probably a T though?

  1. I’m guessing people would like to know the number/letter combo. written on the back.

Congratulations on winning Willy Wonka golden ticket! Except of course it’s Mythic, not Willy Wonka. You you’re going to be murdered, not win lots of chocolate. But hey, bloggers can’t be choosers.

  2. Congrats on getting one! I had a feeling you would and couldn’t go to a nicer person. WOrried about the kiss mark though.

  3. Current theory is that this is related to something called “Death Knight” or “Murder Night” from WAR lore and that its going to manifest itself as an event for Valentine’s day. I’ve been following these messages and the response to them and that’s what I’ve read about it so far.

  5. @Arbitrary — hahaaaa! I was too. But hey, I’ll take em where I can get em. Also, I noticed her (whoever she is) kiss mark looks a damn sight better than any of mine would. Pfft.

  6. Yeah, if I wait a half hour for the scanner to warm up again, which I haven’t got time for right now. However, it’s *identical* to the “T” in “too” from the roses are red poem. Same handwriting, same exact shape — which is why I’m pretty sure it’s a T.

Unless Roses are Red and violence is Loo. o.O 😀

  9. I put up my guess as WAR INVITATION 😛 That’s going on many assumed letters and assuming that the letters are scrambled.

  10. Ahhh! It *is* a pound sign, both front and back, it’s not “Violence is too”, it’s “Violence is £00”, as in violence costs no money. WAR is going free to play[1], you heard it here first!

[1] On the off chance that anyone’s “comedic extrapolation of sketchy evidence” detector is faulty, no it isn’t. But horse trousers are definitely on the way.

  12. @ Zoso: I think it could be a £ sign as the “t” in “the” and “night” are different.

    Could 2/13 be a date?

  14. That’s what I meant by pound sign (£) … and I forgot all the Americans out there would think I meant # (which to me is a hash mark :P).

Manamar, it’s identical to the £ in £oo though, which is why I’m pretty sure it’s a T.

  18. The 2 popular answers are that it spells (backwards in both cases)

War Event Hints (13 letters and matches what we have so far)

    and

    War Event Ninth (same thing)

I’m leaning towards a War event starting Monday the 9th of February going thru Friday the 13th (Night of Murder) and all tieing in with Valentines day the 14th explaining the LOVELY valentines you all got.

    Just my opinion.

  19. @ messenger — aye, that makes sense in terms of event duration. Even so, to my mind the actual hangman-ish phrase, if it’s what we think it is, is a bit of a let-down.

Still, the gimmick was good. 😀
